As you are undoubtedly aware, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is in the process of developing a target-setting framework for financial institutions.

The framework is being developed through a multi-stakeholder process to ensure practicality and validity for financial institutions. The target-setting methods within the framework will be asset class-specific.

In late September the SBTi held its first meeting of the Expert Advisory Group. Web versions of the slides and the discussion held are available online for perusal. For further information visit the SBTi website.

Over 30 financial institutions globally have already committed to setting science-based targets (SBTs), including the likes of HSBC Holdings, London Stock Exchange, Allianz Investment and Principal Financial Group.

Carbon Calculated is well placed to assist should your institution be considering committing to and setting SBTs. Contact us at info@carboncalculated.co.za.
